IntroYet a great sequel to the old one, Mario strikers. Though at first it may seem the same as the old one, but once you finally find out all the special moves, mega strikes, and new kicks, you will find it much better then the old one. With the new Iron ball, skillshots, megastrikes, and characters, it will seem much more interesting then the last.
Skillshots: Skill shots are very use full shots that only side kicks can use. Though not only are these skill shots made for getting the ball past the goalie, but also for hurting the goalie, then giving you the chance for an easy shot. These shots actually can prove use full while playing. To do a skill shot, you must hold B on the controller, but be careful, you are also vulnerable to attack while charging. Each side kick has a unique skill shot that will help. For example, Toad's skill shot it is after you hit the ball, the ball goes on fire and burns the goalie's hands. Hammer bro's skill shot is, after you charge up, he will throw several hammers at the goalie, causing the goalie to be stunned for a moment, then right after the hammers are thrown, hammer bro will shoot the ball into the goal quickly. Though almost all of them are a good chance to get a goal, it may be hard to find time to do the shot when you are surrounded by the opposite teams. The best way to gain space around your character is by using items (Described later in this reviews), or a special attacks (also described in review)
Megastrikes: Megastrikes are special shots that can only be used by the teams captain, similar to the special shots in Mario Strikers for GCN. Each captain has a unique megastrike, though their way of striking it doesn't effect you when you try to catch the balls using the goalies hands. To do a megastrike, you must hold the B button on the Wii controller, then match the two lines on the bar. On the left side, the color you match the bar with determines how many balls you shoot, and the second bar determines how fast the ball goes, (Orange is the fastest), as soon as you do that, and don't get disturbed by the opposite team, your player will fly in the air and perform a megastrike. Then if it is the opposite team that performs a megastrike, you can get a chance to block the ball, by gaining control of the goalies hands. When you have control, a series of balls with fly towards you (according to how many the character had on the bar), you will then have to press A on the balls coming towards you. But if you miss, they get a goal, so be careful.
Items: Items are really what changes the outcome of every game. You can have a max of two items in store for your team, and to get items you either have to perform a good kick, or if you get checked by the opposite team. The items you can get can be a large banana, 3 bananas, 5 bananas, green shell, Red shell, Small red shells, Small green shells, Ice shells (Freezes any player it touches), Small Bo-Bombs, Large Bo-Bombs, Chain chomp, Star and your captains special move. These are great for gaining space around your character giving you a chance at a skill shot or a megastrike.
